Say goodbye to boring date nights and let’s spice it up a little. During lockdown, we’re obviously not allowed to be going to restaurants for a nice meal or booking a trip away however, you can still make your time at home super special and maybe even carry on having date nights when the lockdown is over. Let’s get all romantic and chat through my top 10 date night ideas:
1.Have a game night
I absolutely love a game night whether that be quizzes, playing cards, board games etc. Although I hate to admit that I’m really rubbish when it comes to game night, it’s a pretty fun way to spend an evening together and it helps you to put your phones down and switch off from social media and the world in general.
2.Light the candles and let’s get all romantic
Switch the lights off and let’s light the candles for a romantic evening. It’s time for a home cooked meal, a large glass of red wine and some chilled tunes on Spotify. Make it a proper date night and reminisce about old times, how you got together, when you first fell in love etc.
3.Dinner Date
I take it we have all seen the show Dinner Date right and if you haven’t, where have you been? Basically, it’s set up like a blind date and the other person has to cook for you. You literally choose the person that you want to have a date with based solely on their menu. A fab idea would be to recreate this, where you take turns at cooking a 3 course meal for each other. You could even create a menu and really role play that you’re on a first date.
4.Have a picnic in your front room
If you’re lucky enough to have great weather and an outdoor space then I highly recommend taking your picnic outside in your garden or on your balcony. We have just ordered a picnic basket and I can’t wait to have a picnic date day in the lounge or balcony (please bring the sunshine back).
5.Make it a themed evening
Take a trip to Italy, Thailand, Greece etc. If you have an Italian night, you could make pasta and then have some Italian red wine and then head on over to watch an Italian movie, if you get my gist. No one said we can’t go on holiday in our minds!
6.Movie marathon
Get the popcorn out, get comfy and watch all your favourite movies. We started watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy again and then when this was finished we made our way through the Twilight and all the Batman movies. It was pretty cool, going back and watching them over again. Click here for my Netflix recommendations.
7.Get creative with those cocktails
Have a cocktail evening and get creative with making cocktails for each other. Take it in turns and remember the more adventurous the better.
8.Plan a double date over Zoom
Have a double date with your favourite couple over zoom. Get a cheeky espresso martini or something and have a good catch up.
9.Have a spa evening
If you and your partner are into this type of thing, then get those face masks out, have a bubble bath, put some nice tunes on and just have a relaxing spa evening at home together.
10.Plan your next trip
Planning a trip away sounds a little far off at the moment but that won’t stop us from dreaming about it and putting a plan together. Chat through your travel bucket list or dream destinations for when the world is back to “normal”.
We we’re hoping to be going away for our 1st year wedding anniversary next month however, I have a feeling that we won’t be able to do this. No fear though, as I will definitely be organising a date night around one (or a few) of the above. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if you did please give it a thumbs up and a comment down below, as I’d love to know what your favourite date night is at home.
These are such great ideas! I didn’t even think about doing a double date via Zoom or having a themed evening. Definitely going to be suggesting these to the husband ❤️

Love these ideas so much Vic! Indoor picnic sounds super cute! I did a little lockdown movie fest for Andy and even though it was just the same as most nights it felt a bit more special 🙂 Han xx
