It’s nearly that time of year where you’re planning your fancy dress outfit for a Halloween night of fun or buying all the sweets for the trick or treaters for the perfect Halloween evening in. This year, Gareth and I are going to spend it at home and decorate the flat with everything spooky we can get our hands on and all the sweets you can imagine. Yep, that’s right if you didn’t know me by now, I have a huge sweet tooth. The only thing that’s missing for our evening is spooky movies, so I thought I would put together my top 5 Halloween movies. Let me know in the comments if you have seen any of these or add your own and I’ll be sure to check them out.
Jigsaw
I haven’t watched any of the other Saw movies due to the fact that I’m a little bit of a scardy cat but my work decided to watch Jigsaw at the cinema a few years ago and I couldn’t really say no. I always thought that the Saw movies didn’t really have a story line and they were a little bit sick with what they to do people, but I couldn’t be more wrong as the latest one (Jigsaw) is actually a pretty great movie. If you haven’t watched it yet, the story line is super strong and made me change my mind on these movies afterwards. I still haven’t watched any of the other Saw movies but maybe this is the year.
Halloween
I can’t not include this movie. I mean there have been like a million of them (slight exaggeration over here) and Michael Myers never seems to die. It’s a jumpy film and I hold a pillow to my face most of the way through it, but it’s definitely a contender. This is a must for your spooky evening.
Casper
Yes, I know this is more for a children-friendly movie but I just love it and I don’t think everything needs to be super scary and spooky over Halloween. This is a perfect movie for the beginning of your night especially if you have children. I’m definitely going to be watching Casper this year as I haven’t watched it in ages. Who doesn’t love Casper the friendly ghost and the ending always gives me goosebumps. I literally had tears in my eyes. Get it on your screens this year guys.
Hocus Pocus
I put out a Tweet a couple of days ago to see what your favourite Halloween movies are and a few of you came back to me with Hocus Pocus. I do think I have seen this movie but it was years ago, so I’m going to watch it this year and include it in my top 5 for my perfect Halloween evening night in. I hear this is a classic so I definitely need to add it to the list.
Scream
All the Scream movies are spooky classics and need to be included in any spooky nights in movie list. There are 4 movies so you could even watch them back to back. Get a box of popcorn, sweets and a few spooky cocktails while you enjoy (or not enjoy with all the jumpiness) these classics.
These are my top 5 movies for Halloween. I didn’t want to go into too much detail in case you haven’t watched any of them before. Final Destination, Shutter Island and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are other great contenders for your night in. Comment down below with your fav movies to watch this year over Halloween.
