Streets of Melville

So the time had come for our 3 week journey to South Africa and the first stop was Melville, Johannesburg. I had always been a bit wary of visiting Johannesburg with all the stories you hear, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I was there for the week and loved every minute of it. We touched town at Johannesburg airport and caught the Gautrain from the airport to Sandton (which is probably the cleanest train I have ever seen in my life) to where some friends were eagerly waiting for us. That night we went out and explored some of the nightlife, including a very cool micro brewery and a few quirky bars.

The day after we went and stayed with my future sister and brother in law and little nephew Zak in the amazing suburb of Melville. Melville is such a quirky place and has a great vibe (right up my alley). If you ever do take the trip to Melville, be sure to check out 27 boxes with all the cool little shops and call in for a drink at The Countess where the service is fantastic and the food is incredible! Also go and check out XO Patisserie and do yourself a favour and try the Cronut milkshake. If you have never had a Cronut before, it is a donut and croissant mixed together (and it’s divine! – shown in a photo below).

All in all I loved my time in Melville and can’t wait for my next visit 🙂
