The Best Date Day in Harrogate: A Hotel Stay, Drinks & Symphonic Ibiza

Looking for the perfect date day in Harrogate? I think we may have found a pretty good combination: a gorgeous hotel, a few drinks, plenty of wine, and an evening of live music and 90s dance anthems. We recently spent the day in Harrogate and turned it into a little staycation, starting with a stay at Cedar Court Harrogate before heading to the Great Yorkshire Showground for Symphonic Ibiza.

And honestly? It was such a good day that I’m already very tempted to do it all again next year.

Start Your Date Day at Cedar Court Harrogate

If you’re planning a romantic break or date day in Harrogate, I would definitely recommend making a night of it and booking a hotel. We stayed at Cedar Court Harrogate, which is a beautiful four-star hotel overlooking The Stray and just a short walk from Harrogate town centre. The hotel combines a historic setting with modern comforts, making it a lovely base for a weekend or overnight stay.

We arrived, checked in and immediately got into holiday mode.

There is something about checking into a nice hotel when you don’t actually have to go anywhere that makes the whole experience feel more special. No rushing home, no worrying about who’s driving and, most importantly, plenty of time to enjoy a few drinks! Before heading out for the evening, we stopped for a snack and a couple of drinks at the hotel. It was the perfect way to start the day before getting ready for the concert.

Cedar Court is also only around a 10-minute walk from the centre of Harrogate, so it’s really well placed if you want to explore the town, grab a coffee, do some shopping or find somewhere for dinner.

A Few Drinks Before the Concert

There is something about getting ready for a concert when you’re staying in a hotel that makes it feel like a proper occasion. We had a few drinks, got ready and headed off to the Great Yorkshire Showground for what turned out to be such a fun night.

And yes… there was definitely a lot of wine involved!

But that’s what date days are all about, isn’t it? Good food, good drinks, good company and an excuse to get dressed up and have a brilliant time together.

Symphonic Ibiza in Harrogate

The main event was Symphonic Ibiza, which took place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on 15th August 2026. The event brought together a 40-piece orchestra, DJs and live vocalists for an evening packed with Ibiza classics and 90s dance anthems.

And it was UNREAL.

The atmosphere was incredible from the moment we arrived. Everyone was there to have a good time, and there was such a fun mix of classic dance music, live performances and that unmistakable Ibiza feeling. The line-up included Vernon Kay, who brought his famous 90s dance anthems energy to the show, alongside some seriously nostalgic names.

We also got to see Heather Small, as well as performances from Rebecca Ferguson and Alison Limerick.

If you’re a fan of music from back in the day, it was basically impossible not to sing and dance along. There was something so nostalgic about hearing all those iconic songs performed live, but with a full orchestra behind them. It felt like one huge party.

Why Harrogate Makes a Great Date Destination

I think Harrogate is such an underrated choice for a romantic staycation or date day. You can make the day as relaxed or as busy as you like. Start with a hotel stay, wander around the town, stop for coffee or afternoon tea, have a few drinks and then head somewhere for an evening event.

And if you’re staying overnight, you don’t have to worry about driving home after a few glasses of wine! Harrogate also has plenty of attractions within easy reach, including Bettys Tea Room, the Turkish Baths and Harrogate Theatre, so there are lots of options if you want to build a full itinerary around your stay.

For us, the combination of a lovely hotel and a big concert worked perfectly.

Would I Do It Again?

Absolutely. In fact, I’m already very tempted to book again next year!

The whole day felt like one of those spontaneous plans that turns into a really memorable experience. We had a lovely stay at Cedar Court Harrogate, enjoyed a few drinks, drank probably more wine than we should have, and then danced the night away at Symphonic Ibiza. It was the perfect mix of hotel stay, drinks, music and quality time together.

If you’re looking for ideas for a date day in Harrogate, I’d definitely recommend considering an overnight stay rather than just making it a day trip. Find a nice hotel, book something fun for the evening and give yourself the whole day to enjoy it. Because sometimes the best dates are the ones where you have absolutely nowhere else to be.

And if Symphonic Ibiza comes back to Harrogate next year, I have a feeling we’ll be there!
