If you’re looking for a chic hotel in London Kensington, look no further. We recently stayed at The Drey in London and, honestly, I absolutely loved it. From the stylish interiors to the clever use of space, it was exactly the kind of hotel that makes you want to completely redecorate your own home when you get back. I was taking notes the entire time!
Add in exploring Earl’s Court, heading into Covent Garden for drinks, discovering orange wine and ending up in a club completely unexpectedly, and we had the perfect London stay.
Staying at The Drey in London
The first thing that struck me about The Drey was just how stylish it was. Our room was compact, but it was designed so cleverly that it never felt like we were missing anything. Every detail felt considered, and the interiors were exactly my kind of style. In fact, I genuinely came home thinking: Could I redesign my bedroom to look exactly like this?
The colours, furniture and little details all worked so well together. It had that effortlessly cool, boutique-hotel feeling without being overly fussy.
One thing I really loved about staying at The Drey is that everything is digital. You simply download the hotel app, and your room key is stored on your phone, so there’s no need to carry around a traditional key card. It makes the whole check-in and stay feel really easy and modern. Once you’ve got the app downloaded, your phone basically becomes your hotel key, which I thought was such a clever touch.
If you love interiors and are always looking for London hotel inspiration, I think you’ll love The Drey. It’s a great option if you want somewhere that feels stylish and modern while still giving you a really good base for exploring this part of London.
Exploring Earl’s Court
One of the things I loved about staying in this part of London was being close to Earl’s Court. Earl’s Court is a great area to explore if you want to experience a slightly different side of London. It has plenty of cafés, restaurants, pubs and independent spots to discover, while still being incredibly well connected to the rest of the city.
You can easily spend a morning wandering around the neighbourhood before heading further into central London. And if you’re visiting Kensington and Earl’s Court for a weekend, there are plenty of things to do nearby.
You could explore the Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and Science Museum, wander around Kensington Gardens or head towards the shops and restaurants around Kensington High Street. There’s also the Royal Albert Hall nearby, so it’s worth checking what’s on during your stay.
From Kensington to Covent Garden
After exploring around Earl’s Court, we headed into Covent Garden for the evening. Covent Garden is one of those places in London where you can never really predict how the night is going to go. We started with a few drinks and ended up discovering somewhere completely new to us.
One of the highlights of the evening was visiting Lady of the Grapes, where I tried orange wine for the first time. If you’ve never tried orange wine before, this was definitely an experience!
I had heard people talking about it but had never actually tried it, so I was very intrigued. It was such a fun thing to discover on a night out and definitely made the evening feel a little different from your standard London drinks. Lady of the Grapes is the kind of place I love finding when I’m exploring London — somewhere that feels a little bit different and gives you something new to try. And then somehow, our relaxed evening of a few drinks turned into us ending up in a club in Covent Garden.
Completely unexpected.
But that’s exactly what I love about London.
You can start the evening with a drink somewhere sophisticated, wander around the streets, decide to go somewhere else and suddenly find yourself dancing until late. It wasn’t necessarily what we’d planned, but it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the trip. Sometimes the best London nights are the ones you don’t plan.
The Coach and Horses Is Next on My List (again)
There is one place in Covent Garden that I didn’t manage to visit this time but I have been in the past : The Coach and Horses. It’s voted having the best Guinness — which is a pretty big claim! And then there’s the salt beef sandwich. I mean wow! It’s unreal!
So, The Coach and Horses, I’ll see you next time.

Why I Loved This London Stay
What I loved most about this trip was that it gave us a little bit of everything. We had a beautiful and incredibly stylish hotel, explored Earl’s Court, headed into central London, discovered a new type of wine, enjoyed drinks in Covent Garden and somehow ended up in a club. It wasn’t an overly planned itinerary, and I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much.
If you’re looking for a chic hotel in London Kensington, The Drey would definitely be high on my list. It’s stylish, cleverly designed and in a great location for exploring both Kensington and the wider city.
And if you’re heading into Covent Garden, leave a little room in your itinerary for the unexpected.
