Stunning, welcoming and a paradise island! Three words to describe my recent experience in Crete. I really can’t wait to share my top tips on where to go and what to do in future blog posts, however selfishly this post is about us finally finding our wedding venue and deciding on the country we want to get married in.
If you have been following me over on my social media channels, you will be aware that we booked to get married next year in Rethymno, Crete. Hope you all understand that I am not going to announce the venue at the moment as I want it to be a surprise for all our guests and yourselves as well. We were tempted to book our wedding venue before we actually had seen it but we thought it would be a great idea to head on over for a cheeky week holiday, explore the island and make sure that we felt excited about the possibility of getting married over there.
This was our first time visiting Crete and our first time ever in Greece overall and honestly, it just blew me away. The people are super friendly and the town of Rethymno had that Venice feel and in some parts reminded me of Barcelona. It really was a home away from home and I feel I have made friends on the island for life. I found an incredible wedding planner and a new friend called Niki from NMEVENTS .If you are thinking of getting married in Rethymno or the surrounding areas then head on over to her site. She is super friendly and really understands what Gareth and I are after on our wedding day. I am so excited to plan everything with her this year and to see Niki, her husband Nikos and the new arrival during the build-up of our wedding day.
We have also booked our DJ, Mr Aris who is amazing and we are fortunate to have seen him in action whilst we were over there. We also can’t wait to party the night away with him as he is super fun. I was quite stressed when trying to find a venue that we would be really happy with and proud to bring everyone from around the world to celebrate with us. However, now that we have found the venue, the stress has gone. If I have any questions or concerns then I just fire over a quick email to Niki and she emails me straight back and puts my mind at ease.
If you are thinking of a destination wedding then all I can say is one thing, JUST DO IT! You won’t regret it, I am over the moon that we have things in play and I can finally enjoy the process of planning my wedding day and I really can’t wait to share with you all the build-up to it.
Have you just got married? Thinking about a destination wedding? Any tips for me? Please comment below and if you are intrigued about my planning process for the next year, then hit the subscribe button so you can be notified as soon as they are posted.
