Why I’m Choosing Slow Growth Over Overnight Success

If I’m being completely honest — like always — I actually think I’d hate to blow up overnight. Even though I definitely feel the pressure for every piece of content to perform well, the idea of sudden viral growth doesn’t really appeal to me. There’s such an obsession with going viral, but that kind of exposure can bring a lot of negativity with it. You can easily end up on the wrong side of the algorithm, attracting an audience that isn’t aligned with you or the community you’re actually trying to build. So this is why, I’m choosing slow growth on social media.

I’d much rather grow steadily with people who genuinely care than go viral for something that doesn’t even feel like me. I don’t want to jump on every trend just to please the algorithm or be “seen.”

There was a time when I thought 14k followers was small — but if you put 14,000 people in a room, that would absolutely blow my mind. That’s not small. That’s powerful.

I truly love the community I’ve built. I want to speak to them on a personal level, the same way I would my best friends — because that’s honestly how I see them. Not just as followers, but as friends. As cheesy as that might sound, it’s real to me.

Slow growth has taught me patience. It’s taught me confidence in my own pace — even though, of course, there are still days when I wobble. Most importantly, it’s shown me that comparison is the quickest way to lose your spark. And if I’m honest, getting my spark back is something I’m really focusing on this year (I’ll share more on that another time).

But the real point is this: you have to genuinely love what you create. Success isn’t just about follower numbers. It’s about engagement, meaningful conversations, open discussions, and building something that actually feels aligned with you.

We live in a world obsessed with overnight success. Viral reels. Explosive growth. “How I gained 10K in 7 days.”

And for a while, I thought that was the goal too.

But the truth? I don’t want overnight success.
I want slow, steady, aligned growth — the kind that actually lasts.

So please don’t get caught up in the numbers. Don’t let yourself spiral because you’re not growing as quickly as the next person. You DO have an audience. There are real people choosing to follow you, support you, and engage with what you create — and that matters more than any spike in analytics ever will.

Keep showing up.
Create content you genuinely enjoy.
Build something that feels like you.

And if this resonated with you, I’d love for you to leave a comment below. I’m more than happy to share more posts like this — and offer honest insight into how I’ve grown, slowly but sustainably.

Because slow doesn’t mean stuck. It means building something strong enough to last.
