We’ve moved! I can’t believe it’s finally time to bid farewell to our Leeds City Center apartment and move to a house in the suburbs. I’ve been anticipating this moment, and while I’m thrilled, I’m also feeling a bit sentimental. This apartment holds so many memories – from lockdown to Beau’s first home to becoming a married couple. It’s bittersweet, but I’m ready to welcome this change wholeheartedly.
To sum it up, we lived in the city center for 9 years, with 4 of those years spent in this particular apartment. Our landlord wanted to sell it to us, but we hesitated due to the big commitment of buying a property. Despite our love for the apartment, we decided to explore living in a house in the suburbs to see how we would feel. I keep mentioning the suburbs, but we are still in Yorkshire, just 30 minutes away from Leeds by train (a city that will always hold a special place in my heart).
We explored various parts of Yorkshire, but it was quite challenging with a dog. We had to let go of a few choices because of Beau, but that’s alright because everything happens for a reason. Eventually, we stumbled upon a lovely house (just needs a bit of tender loving care) and Beau is absolutely thrilled with his new garden. And guess what? I now have my own office! How exciting!
I’m not a big fan of renting because you can’t always customise everything to your liking. It’s not like you can just knock down a wall or anything to make it feel more like home. One thing that really bothered me was the gold and flower-themed feature wall in the living room. It had a very retro 70’s vibe wallpaper print, which didn’t match our style at all. I decided to politely ask our landlord if we could remove it, fully expecting them to say no. But to my surprise, they actually said yes, and it made my day!
After making a few adjustments, it’s really starting to feel like home. I just wanted to give a big shoutout to Abstract Art Prints for sending me this amazing Muddy Waters artwork. It’s made me feel like a proper grown-up now.
I’ll share more updates about our house move on social media, but if you want to see more here, just drop a comment. I’m not an expert in interiors, but I’m excited to give it a shot!
Congratulations on your new home lovely, I bet it’s so exciting to be able to decorate everything to how you would like it! x
