AD – Gareth and I have lived in the city centre of Leeds for the past 5 years now. We have rented various apartments during this time but haven’t quite got the funds just yet to buy our own place. We met travelling and took off on an adventure over the years and that’s where our money went, as well as having the wedding of our dreams in Greece – can’t put a price on experiences. People ask me when we’ll be buying a flat or house, but I have never felt pressure with this as simply the answer is we don’t know. We hope to purchase something within the next few years but to be honest, we just don’t know where we would like to buy and with it being such a big commitment, we want to take our time and make the best decision for us.
Part of this blog post is sponsored, as always all opinions are 100% my own.
I think it’s safe to say that I was not the only one that binge watched Selling Sunset this year and then headed on over to Rightmove to check out houses over 1 Million (like we can afford that haha). All jokes aside, I have visions of what our place would like one day and there a few key elements that I would be checking off my list when that day arrives.
1. Location
Location is key for me, I literally dream of a beautiful street with a few cafes and local restaurants etc. Whether it’s a house or an apartment, we’re not too fussy as long as we fall in the love with the place then it doesn’t matter. We currently live in the city and I love it but sometimes I feel like it would also be super nice to live in the countryside.
2. Rustic
Don’t get me wrong, if the places that we look at don’t have that rustic feel, it’s not a major issue as this can be worked on with furnishings etc. It would just be so epic to have our own place that we can decorate just how we like. That would be the dream.
3. Lots of light
We’re very lucky to have so much light in our apartment as we have big windows in our living room, however, if it’s a house that we go for then I definitely would love to put in an infinity roof lantern as this will bring in so much light and we’ll definitely need toughened glass in the home. It will also keep the heat in and as we live in the UK, this is something we definitely need, especially during those winter months. I also feel they look super chic and aesthetically pleasing.
4. Space outside
One thing that we will be looking at when we purchase something is some outdoor space. We don’t need acres of land, just a little something we can call our own. We love being outside as you know already with our beautiful balcony so this will definitely be something that we will be looking into.
Are you a home owner or are you still looking for your dream place? Let me know in the comments below ๐
Love this post Vic and hope you both end up finding somewhere lovely and perfect for you both, when the times right! We love our house now but itโs not the forever home, we definitely want a better location for that and more outside space! Oh and I also agree, you canโt put a price on adventures! I think itโs fab how you both travelled together ๐ xxxx
