How To Stay Entertained On A Long Hike

This is a collaborative post. Within the past year, I have developed a keen interest in hiking. I have hiked in the past around Yorkshire and in Australia and it’s such a liberating feeling and something that I would love to get into more. I thought I would share with you top my tips on how to stay entertained on a long hike, where would be my favourite place to hike next and some interesting tools to help you get into hiking. Let’s get to it!

Find a buddy

Since joining TikTok last year, I started to get served heaps of accounts that were into hiking and I sure wasn’t complaining. I came across an account called @sophexplores and she has created a Facebook group called Outdoor Adventure Girls UK. Since joining, I came across so many people that are in my area and I can’t wait to plan a hike with them soon. If you’re based in the UK, it’s definitely worth searching online and looking on social platforms like Facebook for groups who are into hiking, so you can find a hiking buddy in your area.

Listen to music or a podcast

Ever since I can remember I have loved listening to music, even to the point that I used to be a dancer. I would say singer but I honestly can’t hold a tune haha! I always used to listen to music wherever I went, in the car, on a long walk and now of course on a hike. Listening to music really does keep me entertained and if you’re not into listening to music on a hike, try a podcast. There are so many incredible ones out there, so you’re bound to find one that you will fall in love with.

Make a bucket list

I have started to make a bucket list of places that I would like to hike at next, something that I started to think about on my latest hike. I love to explore and I have always been a keen traveller. Canada has always been extremely high on my list and with family moving over to Vancouver Island soon, my dream of visiting Canada is getting closer. I recently researched places in Canada and there’s so many places that I would love to visit, including Banff National Park which offers some of the best hiking. Whether you are after an easy route to look at the incredible views or a more strenuous hike, it has everything you need. Very exciting! As I was searching places to visit, I also came across Banff Homes for Sale and all I can say is wow! When can I move? This would be the dream.

Start a blog

You could create a blog solely on your hiking adventures. As soon as you have reached the top of your hike, you could take a few moments and write down exactly how you’re feeling, how you found the hike and if you would recommend it to others. I know that I would definitely read it. Or you can start a diary if blogging isn’t your thing and just keep it personal.

Pack lots of snacks

I don’t know about you but I always have snacks in my bag and reward myself when I get to the top. In fact, I love packing a little picnic, there’s nothing more beautiful than eating your lunch overlooking a stunning view. Wouldn’t you agree?

I hope I have inspired you to start your own hiking journey. It’s such a great way to keep fit and I can’t wait to plan the next one, I might even get the hubby involved (like the last time!)
