Harrogate is known for its spa heritage, so when we had the chance to visit The Majestic Hotel & Spa last year, we were excited to indulge in a little relaxation and self-care. The stunning Victorian hotel, part of the DoubleTree by Hilton, is the perfect setting for a spa retreat—but, as we quickly found out, securing your spot at the spa isn’t as simple as just turning up!
From the moment you arrive, The Majestic lives up to its name. The grand, historic building is surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens, and stepping inside feels like a throwback to an era of luxury and elegance. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with a mix of classic charm and modern touches, making it a lovely spot for a weekend getaway.
Now, here’s the part where things didn’t quite go to plan… While we were looking forward to a few hours of pure relaxation in the thermal suite, the spa was already full when we arrived. Unfortunately, you can’t pre-book access to the spa facilities, so if you’re planning to visit, my biggest tip is to get there as early as possible to secure your spot! It’s clearly a popular place (understandably so!), and once it hits capacity, you’re out of luck—just like we were. Lesson learned!
That said, I did manage to get a full body massage, and let me tell you—it was incredible. From start to finish, it was one of the best treatments I’ve had, with the perfect balance of relaxation and tension relief. If you’re visiting, I’d highly recommend booking a massage.
After my treatment, we headed to Carters Champagne Bar & Grill for dinner. Unfortunately, we arrived on a night when the chef was off sick, which meant service was a little all over the place. Dishes took longer than expected, and things felt a bit chaotic—but to be fair, the staff did their best, and we still had a lovely evening. The setting itself is beautiful, and with a glass of bubbly in hand, it was still a nice way to round off the day.
Would we go back? Absolutely—but next time, we’ll be getting to the spa early! If you’re planning a trip to The Majestic Spa in Harrogate, make sure to arrive as soon as it opens to avoid missing out on the facilities.
So, while we didn’t get the full spa experience this time, at least I got to enjoy an amazing massage—silver linings! And despite the slightly chaotic dinner, we still had a wonderful time. If you’ve been, let me know—was it worth the hype? And if you’re planning to go, don’t make the same mistake we did—get there early!
I’m glad you managed to get a treatment, it’s good to know that you need to pre-book spa treatments and facilities at this spa! x
