When winter arrives, Jet2.com has you covered with unforgettable destinations that combine exciting adventures on snow-covered slopes with the cosy charm of Europe’s most festive Christmas markets. I was kindly invited to the Apres-Ski Jet2 Event over the weekend at Friends of Ham in Leeds, where we had an amazing time with wine tasting and wreath making to kick off the ski season with Jet2holidays.
Jet2 has some amazing winter destinations, and the one at the top of my bucket list is a must-see! Keep reading to find out 🙂
1. Salzburg, Austria
Salzburg seamlessly blends Alpine skiing with old-world festive charm.
- Ski Adventures: The Salzburg region offers easy access to world-class ski areas like Flachau and Zell am See, with runs suitable for beginners and seasoned pros alike.
- Christmas Magic: In the city, the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt at Domplatz exudes storybook charm with handcrafted ornaments, traditional Austrian treats, and carol singers filling the air with holiday cheer.
2. Geneva, Switzerland
Geneva is the gateway to some of Europe’s finest ski resorts.
- Ski Adventures: Hit the slopes of Chamonix, Megève, or the Swiss Alps, all a short drive from Geneva.
- Christmas Magic: Back in Geneva, the Montreux Noël Market, located on the shores of Lake Geneva, features over 150 chalets, an illuminated Ferris wheel, and Santa Claus paragliding in for visits. I mean how cool is that!
3. Turin, Italy
Turin offers access to the Italian Alps and a vibrant holiday atmosphere.
- Ski Adventures: The Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area boasts 400km of runs, perfect for all levels, and includes renowned resorts like Sestriere and Sauze d’Oulx.
- Christmas Magic: Turin’s Piazza Castello Christmas Market dazzles with artisan crafts, Italian sweets, and vibrant city streets that feel straight out of a winter romance.
4. Lyon, France
Lyon, known as France’s culinary capital, offers festive cheer and is a must-visit this festive season.
- Ski Adventures: Lyon is a short journey from world-class ski resorts like Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d’Huez, perfect for skiers and snowboarders seeking powder-filled days and breathtaking scenery.
- Christmas Magic: The Lyon Christmas Market in Place Carnot is a delightful mix of crafts and treats, from mulled wine to regional specialties like raclette. Visit in early December to witness the Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights), where the city transforms into a dazzling display of light installations.
Everything on that list is amazing, but Switzerland definitely stands out as my top choice. I can’t wait for the day I finally visit this stunning place, and you can bet I’ll be hanging out at the Après Ski bar.
These are fantastic destinations to visit during the Winter if you’re looking for a more adventurous holiday! x
