It’s been 4 months since Gareth and I tied the knot on the beautiful island of Crete and I have had a few people ask me how I’m finding everything in terms of if I’m experiencing any of the dreaded wedding blues.
I have touched on this within previous wedding posts and to be honest with you, it definitely is a mixed feeling of both the blues and relief that it’s over. We started planning a year before we got married and even though we had our wedding planner Niki, it was still quite stressful at times as I’m sure it is for everyone. We had never planned anything on this scale before and we were mostly wanting to make sure that all our guests were catered for and that everyone was going to have the best time celebrating our special day with us.
In Greece, the culture and the people are very laid back, which is a great thing and something that really benefited us with planning this whole experience. No one was chasing us for money or sending us a million emails, it was literally a very relaxing experience for the first 6 months. Heading into the new year and with 6 months to go, it’s safe to say that the stress was definitely starting to kick in a little more.
One of the biggest stresses of planning a wedding is definitely the budget. We were very lucky that we had some help from our families but you still need to work on a budget and save your butt off. All in all, I think we did a pretty awesome job and we worked to a tight schedule and made sure that we had everything in order financially. Something I would highly recommend, is making an excel document to keep track of your budget so that you always know how much you’re spending and how much you still need to save.
I’ve discussed the wedding now in many blog posts and I have touched on the dreaded wedding blues, where I offered my top tips on how to keep them at bay. All in all, I am definitely relieved that it’s finished, however, would I do it all over again? Yep, I would! We had an amazing day with all our guests that had flown in from all over the world to be with us and that is something that we will never ever forget.
Just a few weeks to go and it’s honeymoon time. I can’t wait to find out (Finally!) where I’m going. Watch this space!
