Why You Need To Add Barbados To Your Bucket List

Wow, what an insanely perfect trip to Barbados that was! It’s been a long time coming as back in 2019, I won a trip through my blog to head on out to Barbados with IceLolly and stay at the Club Barbados & Spa, but then 2020 hit and we all know what happened there. Honestly, I didn’t think the trip would ever happen but Gareth and I was over the moon when we knew that it was going to take place this year. I wanted to share with you what Gareth and I got up to on our latest trip and why you need to add this beautiful island of Barbados to your bucket list.

Heading out from London and landing in Barbados was a dream come true. May is out of season for Barbados but the weather is still beautiful and I know many people messaged me who were also going out that month in panic, as the forecast had said rain. I will say that it rained pretty much every day for 15 minutes but to be honest, you needed the rain to pour as it was very humid. Gareth’s Aunty & Uncle live out in Barbados and they came to pick us up from the airport but it’s pretty straight forward in getting transport as there’s taxi’s waiting outside. The airport at Barbados was probably one of my favourite airports that I’ve ever been to.

We stayed at the Club Barbados & Spa in Holetown and it’s an all-inclusive adults only retreat. We had the most beautiful room with our own Juliet balcony, the comfiest dressing gowns which I wanted to steal (I didn’t by the way) and beautiful ocean view. The hotel has its own small private beach with a 5 minute walk to the glorious beaches of Sandy Lane, where you would find Gareth and I taking a quick dip with a cocktail in hand each day.

Holiday in Barbados

The breakfast and lunch were buffet style and there were 2 restaurants to choose from with an a la carte menu. We honestly couldn’t fault the food, everything was so delicious and don’t get me started on the cocktails. Ok, go on then! The cocktails, wow, I think we tried them all but it was only when we noticed our new American friends with this beautiful cocktail that our views at this resort changed. Let me introduce you to the Miami Vice – half Piña Colada and half Strawberry Daquiri.  It was delicioso!

The staff were all super friendly and new our names which is always a nice added touch. There is literally so much to do in Barbados from visiting the old town to visiting Oistin’s Friday fish night (we unfortunately didn’t get chance to do this but I heard incredible reviews). When you come to Barbados the one thing you need to add to your list is a catamaran tour. This was 100% one of my highlights! We got to swim with giant turtles and we also got to see a shipwreck, not to mention the catamaran had an open bar and a delicious buffet lunch.

The big question is would I go back to Barbados? Without a shadow of a doubt, it’s nearly 6 months on and I am still dreaming of this incredible trip. If Barbados isn’t on your bucket list, make sure you add it today.
