Bradford is a city full of surprises—whether you’re here for the food, the arts, or just a wander through its historic streets, there’s plenty to see and do. On my recent visit, I indulged in some of the city’s best sweet treats, explored an incredible photography gallery, and tucked into some legendary kebabs. Plus, I’ve got a few recommendations I still need to check out! Here’s how I spent my day in Bradford.
We started our day with a visit to Cake ‘Ole, and honestly, we could have stayed there all morning. This quirky café is packed with personality—bright colours, mismatched furniture, and an insane selection of cakes, milkshakes, and hot chocolates. I went for a slice of their Cinnabon Cake (because why not?) and paired it with a malt milkshake. It’s the perfect spot to sit back and get that sugar rush before exploring the city.
After satisfying my sweet tooth, we headed to Impressions Gallery, a must-visit for photography lovers. This contemporary space showcases thought-provoking exhibitions from emerging and established artists, and the best part? Entry is free! The gallery always offers something fresh and eye-opening, making it a great place to slow down and soak in some creativity.
By midday, we were ready for something savoury, so we made our way to Kebab Corner in Oastler Market. If you love kebabs, this place is the real deal. I went for a chicken kebab and Gareth went for the classic donner kebab. Everything was packed with flavour, served fresh, and ridiculously satisfying. It’s no wonder this place has a loyal following!
With a full stomach, we took a leisurely walk through City Square, one of Bradford’s key landmarks. The mix of grand historic buildings and modern city life makes it a great place to people-watch, and if the weather’s nice, it’s the perfect spot to take a break and soak in the city’s energy.
Recommendations I Still Need to Try 👀
I’ve had so many people recommend places in Bradford that I still need to check out, and I’d love to hear if you’ve been! A few that are high on my list:
- Watching a show at the Alhambra Theatre or St George’s Hall – I’ve heard the performances here are next level!
- Trying out more local food spots – I know Bradford has some hidden gems when it comes to food, so if you have a must-visit restaurant or café, drop your recommendations in the comments!
- A must try for next time is the Waterstones Café – the building looks unreal!
Bradford might not always be the first place people think of for a day out, but it definitely should be. From incredible food to an inspiring arts scene, this city has so much to offer. Whether you’re here for a quick visit or planning a longer stay, there’s always something new to discover.
Ok, that slice of cake looks delicious! It looks like you had a fab day in Bradford x
