From stunning landscapes to vibrant cities, your travel bucket list should be filled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences that leave you with unforgettable memories. Life is too short not to explore the world, so here’s a curated guide to some of the most epic travel moments across the globe.
1.South Africa: Safari and Scenic Adventures
I met my husband Gareth working on cruise ships, and as soon as our contract ended we headed out to South Africa for four months. It was incredible to see where Gareth is from and to explore one of my favourite places in the whole world. From stunning landscapes to vibrant wildlife, South Africa truly deserves a spot on your travel bucket list—I promise you won’t be disappointed!
- Pumba Private Game Reserve– Spot lions, elephants, and rhinos in their natural habitat.
- Cape Town & Table Mountain – Take a cable car ride and explore the breathtaking coastline.
- Garden Route Road Trip – Discover charming towns and scenic views along this iconic route.
My Top Tip: Plan for at least 7–10 days to experience a mix of wildlife, mountains, and beaches.

2. Australia: Beaches, Cities, and the Outback
I once lived in Australia for a year, and it was the best year ever. Gareth has family on the Sunshine Coast, and we also have friends there, so we can’t wait to go back. Australia is such a diverse country—whether it’s cosmopolitan cities, stunning beaches, or the rugged outback, there’s something for everyone. Some of my favourites include Sydney, the Whitsunday Islands, and Byron Bay, and I also highly recommend exploring the Outback for a truly unforgettable experience.
- Sydney Opera House & Harbour Bridge – Iconic city views and cultural experiences.
- Great Barrier Reef Snorkelling – Swim among vibrant coral and marine life.
- The Outback & Uluru – Witness the majesty of Australia’s red heart – something I still need to add to my list.
My Top Tip: Australia is huge, so plan your trip carefully—at least a couple of weeks will allow you to experience a mix of everything.

3. Mauritius: Tropical Paradise
The first time I visited Mauritius was for my honeymoon, and it was absolutely incredible. With its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and lush landscapes, Mauritius is the perfect destination for both relaxation and adventure. Every corner of the island feels like paradise, and it’s one of those places you’ll never forget.
- Relax on the beaches
- Take helicopter ride and soak in the views
- Indulge in the local cuisine – A delicious blend of African, Indian, and French flavours.
My Top Tip: Mauritius is ideal for a mix of relaxation and activity—plan some beach days alongside cultural excursions.

4. Caribbean Cruise: Island Adventures
Having worked on cruise ships, I’ve been lucky to explore some amazing Caribbean islands, and I can’t wait to go back one day as a passenger! Cruising through the Caribbean is a magical way to see multiple destinations effortlessly—from turquoise waters to soft sandy beaches. Some of my favourite islands to visit on a cruise include:
- St Martin – Enjoy the lively culture, airport beach, and delicious French and Caribbean cuisine.
- Puerto Rico – Explore historic San Juan, rainforest hikes, and charming coastal towns.
- Nassau, Bahamas – Perfect for snorkelling, relaxing on powdery beaches, and discovering local markets.
My Top Tip: Choose excursions that excite you—whether it’s snorkelling, hiking, or exploring historic towns, the Caribbean is full of experiences you won’t forget.

5. Barbados: A Caribbean Gem
Barbados is a true Caribbean gem with stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and delicious food. It’s one of those islands that leaves a lasting impression and deserves a spot on your bucket list.
- Beaches – Relax on soft, sandy shores like Carlisle Bay or Sandy Lane
- Historic Bridgetown – Explore charming streets, and local markets.
- Food and Rum – Indulge in traditional Bajan dishes and sample world-famous rum.
My Top Tip: Spend at least a week here to soak up the local culture, enjoy water sports, and explore beyond the main resorts.

6. Iconic European Cities: Rome, Paris & London
Europe is full of iconic cities that should be on every traveller’s bucket list. Each has its own charm, history, and unforgettable experiences.
Rome, Italy
Rome is a city where history comes alive around every corner. From the Colosseum to Vatican City, it’s impossible not to feel inspired. Wander through charming piazzas, enjoy authentic Italian gelato, and soak up the atmosphere of this timeless city.
My Top Tip: Try to explore on foot—it’s the best way to discover hidden gems like Trastevere’s cobbled streets and local trattorias.

Paris, France
Paris is full with romance, culture, and culinary delights. The Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and Champs-Élysées are must-sees, but some of my favourite moments are simply strolling along the Seine or enjoying a coffee in a quiet café.
My Top Tip: Visit lesser-known neighbourhoods like to escape the crowds and experience authentic Parisian life.

London, England
London is vibrant, historic, and endlessly exciting. From Buckingham Palace to the Tower of London, and from lively markets to West End theatre, there’s something for everyone. I love exploring the mix of old and new, whether it’s historic streets or trendy food markets.
My Top Tip: Use the Tube to get around quickly, but leave time to wander—you never know what hidden gems you might discover.

There are so many other destinations we could mention, but we would literally be here all day! I’ve chosen to include just a few of my firm favourites that immediately come to mind—places that have left a lasting impression and that I can’t wait to visit again. I hope they inspire your own travel bucket list and encourage you to explore the world, one unforgettable experience at a time. Stay tuned for Part 2, where I’ll share even more incredible destinations!
