Sun Or Snow Winter Destinations

Do you ever go away during the winter months? If so, what kind of destination do you choose? Are you more for the winter sunshine or do you love a skiing holiday? After attending the Christmas Jet2 Blogger event last month, I started to think about what type of holiday I would choose at this time of year.

If I’m being truly honest, in the past I would always choose a winter sun holiday After growing up in the Canary Islands and celebrating Christmas in the sunshine, I used to think it was paradise but since being back in the UK, I actually enjoy the cold winter overall.

I thought I would put together four winter holidays, both cold and winter sun options to give you inspiration for your next adventure. Let’s get to it:

Tenerife

I may be biased as this was the island where I grew up but I honestly couldn’t recommend Tenerife enough, especially if you are on the hunt for some winter sunshine. Tenerife is predominantly hot all year around with temperatures within the 20’s during winter. My only advice is that you might need a light jacket on the evenings as temperatures can drop. This island is perfect all rounder for families, friends who want to party or couples who would like a romantic break. There are so many options on the island to suit everyone’s needs.

Malta

I have never actually been to Malta before but it’s high on my bucket list. During the winter months, temperatures can be in the teens, which makes Malta an attractive option for some winter sunshine. From the carnivals to visiting many of the Maltese museums and even taking a hike through the nature reserves, Malta sounds like a beautiful location to escape the cold for a few weeks. Where do I sign up?

Salzburg

If you’re looking for more of a winter destination with activities such as skiing and snowboarding then look no further. I have always wanted to visit Salzburg in Austria, it’s literally right up there at the top of the bucket list. During the winter months, it looks like such a magical place and I can just see myself there right now with a hot chocolate in hand. I have never actually been skiing before but I think I would really enjoy it.

Geneva

Geneva in Switzerland is another place that has made the bucket list and it’s not hard to see why. It just looks like a dreamy place and I always hear great things. If you’re not wanting to go skiing or take part in the winter activities, don’t let that put you off, as personally I don’t think I would be taking part in them that much anyway. I personally would be stopping of for a glass of wine at one of the local wineries and visiting one of their spas with a view. If you are looking at going Christmas time at the end of year, why don’t you check out their Christmas markets? Whose with me?

Whether you prefer the sun or the snow during the winter months, there are so many beautiful places to visit and I for one will be on the lookout for some great deals.
