Wedding Dress Cleaning And Storage Guide

Next month, Gareth and I will have been married for 1 year and when I look back over our time planning the big day, not only was it so special but it was also quite stressful, which I can imagine would be the case for many new brides and grooms. I don’t think anyone could have anticipated what has occurred this year with the coronavirus and I’m aware many couples have had to re-arrange their wedding day. That has without a doubt made things even more stressful and my heart really does go out to anyone who was due to get married over these past few months or the upcoming months. Not only do I feel for couples but I also feel for local businesses, such as Amy’s Laundry.

Earlier on in the year, Amy got in touch to see if I would like to work together on a potential collaboration and I jumped at the chance. I was desperate to get my wedding dress cleaned and with all the thorns etc that were still stuck in my train, I was actually embarrassed to send it anywhere. I shouldn’t have been, as I know many brides will face this at the end of their big day. If you’re recently married and you haven’t got round to cleaning your wedding dress or for any upcoming brides that will be getting married soon, I can highly recommend Amy’s services, you will not be disappointed.

Booking the service couldn’t be easier. DPD come to your house or work to collect your dress and ship it to Amy’s Laundry as early as 24 hours after you have booked in your dress. All you have to do is book in your service, you will then receive 2 emails, one from DPD confirming the date for collection and a personalised one from the team explaining everything you need to know. If you do have any worries whatsoever, just ask and the team will be more than happy to assist you. All you will need to do is pack your dress in a cardboard box and label the address on the outside. Make sure you take a ticket from the delivery driver, for peace of mind and for insurance purposes.

At Amy’s Laundry, your wedding dress will be cleaned using their eco friendly WetCare technology and any stains will be treated by hand. Don’t worry about those wine marks Ladies, we’ve all been there! This is a great idea for brides that would like to wear their wedding dress again, for example a destination wedding and then you choose to have a big wedding party at home and you want to show everyone how stunning you looked in your wedding dress. Or perhaps, you would like to sell your dress or you just want it freshly cleaned so you can store it away and every now and then get it back out, put it back on and dance around your kitchen (who does that? not me!).

The moment I had been waiting for

Fast forward to the beginning of March and the moment I had been waiting for had arrived. I felt like I was getting married all over again. My stunning Essense of Australia wedding dress had returned from its luxury dress cleaning service at Amy’s Laundry and I was just so excited to see it again. It arrived in one of their beautiful handmade storage boxes – I actually love this idea as I was so worried where I would store my wedding dress in my wardrobe as I literally have no room, but with a storage box it’s just so much easier to store away. These do come at an extra charge, however I would honestly 100% recommend one if you don’t have one already. As soon as I opened the box, I was blown away and I’m not going to lie when I say that I got a little teary. It looks exactly as it did back in the beautiful wedding dress store and I couldn’t be happier.

I had a classic boho/rustic wedding and wore a beautiful pair of Ipanema sandals on my big day and to be honest, they didn’t really need cleaning. I understand a lot of you beautiful brides might have spent a fortune on a stunning pair of shoes or wore a veil and these items can also be cleaned at Amy’s Laundry.

I don’t think I have met a bride yet that didn’t need some sort of cleaning on their wedding dress and if you didn’t, then wow go you! I’m impressed. What I loved the most about this brand is that they didn’t over promise anything to me, they clearly mention that some marks may be impossible to remove completely, which is understandable and I appreciated their honesty. To be honest, I had no worries whatsoever and like I said at the beginning of this post back in January, I was so embarrassed by having to send my dress over with all those thorns stuck in my train. Even my Mum said to me, I don’t think they will be able to get them all out but you know what, they sure did!
