Back in May, I went on a girls’ trip to Malta with my mum and sister — and I’m still thinking about it. From golden sunsets and historic cities to incredible food and dreamy hotel views, it was one of those trips that makes you feel like you’ve really escaped. If you’re considering where to go for your next sunny break, let me put Malta on your radar. Here’s everything we loved: where we stayed, what we did, and — of course — what we ate.
We booked our trip as a package through Jet2, and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. Everything was so easy and seamless, and the Hilton St. Julian’s ended up being the perfect choice. The hotel itself was stunning — think sea views, a gorgeous pool area, and that classic Hilton comfort. The location was ideal too: close to so many amazing restaurants, with a relaxed yet stylish vibe. Whether we were heading out for dinner or coming back to chill, it always felt like a little slice of luxury.
Even though this was a chilled-out trip, we managed to fit in some exploring — and Malta definitely delivered.
Mdina Silent City Tour
Mdina, also known as the “Silent City,” was one of the most peaceful, atmospheric places I’ve ever visited. Walking through the narrow, quiet streets honestly felt like stepping back in time. If you love history or just want a change of pace, this is a must-do.
Valletta
We spent a day wandering through Valletta, Malta’s capital, and it completely charmed us. Think beautiful buildings, colourful balconies, and endless photo spots. We had lunch there and soaked in the views — it had such a cool mix of old-world charm and modern Mediterranean energy.
Sliema
Sliema had a much more laid-back, coastal feel. It’s a great area for a sunset stroll or a relaxed drink by the sea. We didn’t spend loads of time here, but what we saw made us want to come back and explore more.
You know I can’t go on holiday without building the trip around food. Here are some of our favourite spots:
-
Blue Palace, St Julian’s – One of the prettiest spots we ate at. Great views, great Thai food. 10/10 for date night or a fancy family meal.
-
The Avenue, St Julian’s – A fun, busy restaurant with loads of options. It felt very local and lively.
-
Cuba Restaurant, Spinola Bay – Perfect for casual drinks and people-watching, right on the water.
-
Lipari Trattoria Italiana, Sliema – A cosy gem we stumbled upon. Would definitely go back.
-
San Giovanni, Valletta – Loved this one for the atmosphere and delicious pasta.
-
Surfside, Sliema – OK, so we didn’t actually eat here, but it looked super cute. It’s right on the water and has total beach club energy — I’d try it next time for sure.
Have you visited Malta before? I honestly can’t wait to go back
Malta looks beautiful, I’d love to visit there, especially for a girlie trip! x
