Once-in-a-Lifetime Travel Experiences You Need on Your Bucket List – Part 2

There are simply too many incredible places to fit into one list, so here’s part two of my travel bucket list destinations. These are places that have left a lasting impression on me, whether through breathtaking scenery, unforgettable experiences, or the feeling of discovering somewhere truly special. If you’re planning your next getaway or looking for inspiration for future adventures, these are all places I think deserve a spot on your list.

Travel Bucket List Destinations You Need to Visit

Dubai Desert

Dubai

1. Dubai: Luxury, Adventure and Endless Sunshine

Dubai is one of those destinations that has a little bit of everything. I’ve been lucky enough to visit a few times, both for work and on holiday, and every trip has been completely different. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, incredible food, desert adventures or relaxing beach days, Dubai is a destination that never fails to impress.

  • Burj Khalifa – Head to the top of the world’s tallest building for incredible views across the city. ( I still need to do this)
  • Desert Safari – Experience dune bashing, camel rides, traditional entertainment and a sunset you’ll never forget.
  • Palm Jumeirah & Beach Clubs – Spend the day relaxing by the beach or visiting one of Dubai’s iconic beach clubs.
  • Old Dubai & Souks – Explore the traditional side of the city, from the Gold Souk to crossing Dubai Creek on an abra.

My Top Tip: Visit between November and March when the weather is warm but much more comfortable for sightseeing and spending time outdoors.

Habitas AlUla

2. AlUla: Ancient Wonders and Desert Landscapes

AlUla completely exceeded my expectations and is unlike anywhere I’ve ever visited. From its dramatic desert scenery to its rich history, it’s a destination that feels both peaceful and awe-inspiring. If you’re looking for somewhere a little different, with incredible landscapes and unforgettable experiences, AlUla deserves a place on your travel bucket list.

  • Hegra – Explore Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to beautifully preserved ancient tombs carved into sandstone cliffs.
  • Elephant Rock – Visit this iconic natural rock formation, especially at sunset when the desert glows with golden light.
  • Old Town AlUla – Wander through the historic streets, browse local shops and enjoy the cafés and restaurants.
  • Maraya Concert Hall – Admire the world’s largest mirrored building, which reflects the surrounding desert in a truly unique way.

My Top Tip: Spend at least two to three days in AlUla to fully experience the landscapes, history and activities without feeling rushed. Sunset is one of the best times to explore, as the desert is at its most beautiful.

Hilton Malta

4. Malta: Mediterranean Charm and Crystal-Clear Waters

Malta is one of those destinations that has something for everyone. From beautiful beaches and hidden coves to historic cities and incredible viewpoints, it’s the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Whether you’re spending your days exploring the coastline, wandering through charming streets or enjoying the local food, Malta is a destination you’ll want to return to again and again.

  • Valletta – Wander through the capital’s historic streets, admire the architecture and enjoy its cafés and waterfront views.
  • Blue Lagoon, Comino – Swim in some of the clearest turquoise water you’ll ever see.
  • Mdina – Step back in time as you explore Malta’s beautiful “Silent City” with its narrow streets and stunning viewpoints.
  • Gozo – Take a day trip to discover picturesque beaches, coastal walks and a slower pace of life.

My Top Tip: If you’re visiting during the summer, head out early to popular spots like the Blue Lagoon to avoid the crowds and make the most of the crystal-clear water. I didn’t do this but it’s high on my list for when I return.

5. Mallorca: Coastal Beauty, Hidden Gems and Spanish Charm

Mallorca is so much more than just a beach destination. From charming old towns and historic landmarks to incredible food and crystal-clear coves, it’s the perfect place to combine relaxation with adventure. Whether you’re exploring the island by boat, discovering local tapas spots or taking in the stunning coastal scenery, Mallorca is a destination that has something for everyone.

  • Tapas Trail – Explore Palma’s vibrant food scene by hopping between local bars and sampling traditional Spanish tapas.
  • Boat Party or Catamaran Cruise – See Mallorca’s beautiful coastline from the water, swim in hidden coves and soak up the Mediterranean sunshine.
  • Bellver Castle – Visit this unique circular castle for panoramic views over Palma and learn more about the island’s history.
  • Sóller – Take the vintage wooden train through the mountains to this charming town, known for its orange groves, harbour and relaxed coastal vibe.
  • Private Guided Tour – Discover Mallorca’s hidden villages, scenic viewpoints and local favourites with a knowledgeable guide for a more authentic experience.

My Top Tip: Coffee and tapas are another level – take advantage of this!

Greece

6. Greece: Island Hopping, Sun-Soaked Days and Timeless Beauty

Greece will always hold a very special place in my heart. From celebrating one of the most important days of my life in Crete to exploring the breathtaking island of Kefalonia, every visit has felt like a mix of magic, history and pure relaxation. The beauty of Greece is that it offers both iconic destinations and endless hidden gems, and I can’t wait to keep discovering more of its lesser-known islands.

  • Crete – Where I got married, and a place that completely stole my heart. From stunning beaches to charming villages and incredible food, it has everything you could want from a Greek island.
  • Kefalonia – Famous for its dramatic coastline, turquoise waters and picturesque beaches like Myrtos Bay.
  • Island Hopping – One of the best ways to experience Greece is by exploring multiple islands, each with its own unique character and charm.
  • Lesser-Known Islands – I’m especially excited to discover more hidden gems away from the main tourist routes for a more authentic Greek experience.

My Top Tip: Don’t just stick to one island if you can help it. Ferry hopping is part of the experience, and each island feels completely different from the last.
